A new study identified that the quality of nursing homes in Ohio was lower than the national average, although further research is needed to identify that the reason for this. The SCRIPPS Gerontology Center in Miami University looked at individuals who stayed in a facility for 100 days or more. The state of Ohio fell below the national average on all ten of the quality measures identified by the centers for Medicaid or Medicare services, including unexplained weight loss, urinary tract infections, pressure ulcers, pain and use of anti-psychotic medications.
